You must be an old movie fan! (And by that, we don't mean you're a movie fan who's elderly. We mean, you must like old movies, ha-ha-ha-!) Especially old "B" movies. As many of you know, "B" movies were called that because they weren't as good as "A" movies. Some people have said that they were called "B" movies because they were bad. "B" for bad. |
|
But no matter which one is right or you believe, "B" movies have always been a huge part of our American entertainment culture. And that's what this web site is all about. Herbert W. Zoozman was the king of "B" movies. Actually, he can probably more accurately be described as the king of "Z" movies; the lowest budget films ever created. Lower than Monogram's classics. Lower than PRC's classics. Lower than the lowest. In fact, it was once reported that Zoozman actually cast his motion picture's roles according to how much raw film stock the various actors would buy him. | |
| A man such as this deserves a second look. And that's just what we're here to do. And it starts with the re-release of the soundtrack to his most shocking film of all -- They Came in Outer Space. Made in 1961 (some say 1959), They Came in Outer Space was thought lost temporarily forever. But such was not to be the case. A print turned up and was subsequently restored. Everything except the picture survived the process. The restoration was completed by Gerald "Bud" Willoughby and Dr. Linus Hobart and is an almost as exciting story as the film itself and the making of the film itself. | |
| This entire web site is dedicated to the efforts of Dr. Hobart's Benchmark-Pantheon collection of restored film soundtracks. To date, Dr. Hobart has only fully restored one other film soundtrack which he can't seem to put his hands on for the moment, but hope runs high. As he continues his efforts, we expect to release his discovers through this outlet. To find out more about Dr. Hobart's endeavors and interests, as well as more about the stars, the stories, and the other stuff, and the man who started it -- Mister Herbert W. Zoozman himself -- click around all you like. You're bound to find something interesting somewhere. | ![]() Male lead, Niles LaBeefe as Captain Brad L. Thought to be filmed during the Summer of 1957, They Came in Outer Space is considered by many to be producer Herbert W. Zoozman's least terrible film. Incidentally, after dozens of interviews with the writer, director, producer, stars, cast, and crew...no one has ever been able to explain what the film's two leads are pointing at here. |
